About the role

As Senior Complaints and Investigations Officer, you will be at the frontline of the Commission’s work to protect human rights in Fiji. You will engage directly with the public, receiving and investigating complaints with impartiality and professionalism, ensuring that human rights cases are managed fairly and respectfully.

In this role, you will:

• Drive impartial investigations into human rights complaints.
• Interview parties, gather evidence, and deliver clear, actionable reports.
• Engage directly with complainants, respondents, and authorities to uphold due process.
• Keep case records secure, accurate, and up to date.
• Contribute to broader reviews that spotlight systemic human rights issues.
• Guide and mentor staff and interns to build investigative excellence.

About you

We are looking for candidates with:

• At least five years of experience in investigations, compliance, or legal analysis.
• A degree in law, criminology, human rights, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and report writing skills.
• Experience in case management, interviewing, and evidence gathering.
• An understanding of administrative and natural justice principles.
• Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn, records management software.
• A demonstrated commitment to human rights values, and to the mandate and work of the Commission.

About the Commission

The Commission is a statutory body established under the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji. It has a constitutional mandate to promote, protect, and uphold human rights across the country. The Commission works to develop a culture of human rights by educating the public about their rights and freedoms, receiving and investigating alleged violations, facilitating conciliations, and where necessary, seeking redress through the courts. It also provides recommendations to Government on laws and policies to ensure compliance with human rights standards, and monitors Fiji’s obligations under international human rights treaties and conventions.

The starting salary for this role will be based on the range above, in line with preferred candidate’s experience and qualifications.
