The Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission is readvertising the position of a Team Leader – Labasa to join us in our Suva Office.
About the role
As Team Leader – Labasa, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Commission’s Labasa Office and play an important role in ensuring that the Commission’s services are accessible to communities in the Northern Division.
In this role, you will:
- Provide leadership and day-to-day operational oversight of the Labasa Office.
- Supervise, support and guide staff to ensure effective service delivery and professional performance.
- Coordinate and monitor the delivery of the Commission’s complaints, investigations, education and outreach services within the Northern Division.
- Ensure the effective management of office resources, records, correspondence and administrative requirements.
- Engage with communities, government agencies, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen awareness and access to human rights services.
- Represent the Commission at meetings, consultations, community engagements and other relevant forums.
- Support the identification and escalation of emerging human rights concerns and systemic issues affecting communities in the Northern Division.
- Ensure timely reporting, communication and coordination with the Commission’s Management and relevant teams.
- Promote a professional, respectful and collaborative workplace culture consistent with the values and mandate of the Commission.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Commission’s strategic and operational priorities.
About you
We are looking for candidates with:
- At least five years of experience in leadership role, stakeholder engagement, community engagement or service delivery.
- A degree in law, criminology, human rights, public administration, social sciences, management or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership, supervisory or management role
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- An understanding of administrative and natural justice principles.
- Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn, records management software.
- A demonstrated commitment to the mandate and work of the Commission.
About the Commission
The Commission is a statutory body established under the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji. It has a constitutional mandate to promote, protect, and uphold human rights across the country. The Commission works to develop a culture of human rights by educating the public about their rights and freedoms, receiving and investigating alleged violations, facilitating conciliations, and where necessary, seeking redress through the courts. It also provides recommendations to Government on laws and policies to ensure compliance with human rights standards, and monitors Fiji’s obligations under international human rights treaties and conventions.

The starting salary for this role will be based on the range above, in line with preferred candidate’s experience and qualifications.
